Closing this Substack chapter
Tl;dr: if you’d like to be notified about my next/future public writings or private newsletter, please stay subscribed. If you’re not interested, unsubscribe below.
I was having so much trouble thinking up a new URL for this substack, as I’m not going by Shim anymore.
Months later, I realized it was because I don’t want to use this subtack as I’ve been using it anymore.
I do know that I want to close this substack. It’s time. I don’t want to keep using URLs that use my legal name. (At the time of writing, I haven't heard back from the government yet about my legal name change application.)
Maybe I'll share things in emails privately. Maybe I’ll set up a website and post select writings there as essays or articles. Maybe I'll set up a private email newsletter again (tinyletter, mailerlite, etc). Maybe I’ll set up a podcast and share transcripts. Maybe I’ll create an email series or course. I don’t know yet. I’m keeping it open.
This is my second newsletter to end
2018 - 2020 Mailerlite [my archive/wrap up post about that]
2022 - 2024 Substack [after 83 posts and 6 unpublished drafts!]
(and also, I’m archiving my old blogspot with visual art things)
It’s fascinating for me to see how I’m continuously tweaking the types of things I write about and how I share them. And, what’s stayed the same but I’ve kept more private. It’s interesting to note that each of my two newsletters have lasted for two years… I wonder if I’ll wait another two years before my next one..
To keep things simple for both of us, if you’d like to be notified about any further public writings or private newsletters, please stay subscribed. When I launch anything new I’ll look at these Substack emails/subscribers. If you’re not interested, unsubscribe below. Thank you for reading my work! It was lovely.
All the best,
Mia
